So the last entry I wrote on June 30th events changed that night! Jenn was playing the ukele with the receptionist downstairs and met this guy named Simon from Australia who is traveling with his sister and his sisters boyfriend Jake. We met up with them at a bar called Infinity and played pool and walked around Ho Ann. While we were walking a guy tried to rob me on a bike but instead punched me in the boob! What the fuck! Having a purse is very dangerous, I have learned to always be on alert on the streets.
We walked to this club Volcano right next to our hotel and basically just laughed at the young drunk british people on the dance floor and just enjoyed each others company. It was around 3am when we got back to our hotel room which those guys were two doors down from our room. I wish the night ended there but they came in with vodka and we played drinking games and Jake left after 5am but Simon invited himself to sleepover. After he did that we got complete creeper vibes and got him out of our room and avoided him all the next day. We woke up around 2 or 3pm and Jenn was too tired to go to Da Nang so we stayed another night and had a lazy night in! We ate Indian food and then relaxed at a café by the center of town.
We woke up bright and early and left Hoi An and we took a public bus to Da Nang! We got the biggest room at this hotel for $15 a night and proceeded to motorbike to the beach and watch the sunset. Later that night we walked far across the Dragon Bridge to a place with all locals and had great food with lots of beers and talked to a bunch of guys. They love to take photos with us and a guy brought us lollipops. Weird?
The next day we rode motorbikes to Marble Mountain and took in the views like Jenn did two years earlier and then we went to Monkey Mountain! We watched the sunset there and rode our bike down to the Big Lady Buddha at the bottom of the mountain. The bike kept dying but luckily it pulled through. We watched a lightning storm at Lady Buddha and then had soup for dinner and then yogurt for dessert. It was a really lovely day.
The next day we were going to leave but they were out of bus tickets. So we just walked around town, got lazy and watched movies that night. I feel like as I have gotten older I like having my energy for the day time activities more than going out at night! The next morning we got a bus to Hue and after walking for two hours we found a great hotel for $12 a night. We rented bicycles and strolled around town before getting drunk and dancing at a bar called Brown Eye Bar where Jenn was two years earlier! Today we will go to the Nguyen Dynasty before leaving for our 5pm bus to Hanoi. My trip is basically over. It’s a feeling of sadness and excitement for whats next. I know my travels don’t end but man it went by fast.
Through my travels the only two pieces of technology I brought were my cell phone and my camera. I kept a small blue journal with me throughout the whole trip to document when times were quiet. I suggest everyone that travels to bring a Journal and Pencil.
